Family/Community Projects or Initiatives Competition 2018

Thank you for all your entries! Shortlisted winners will be announced on Thursday 21st February at 5pm

If you are running a family or community maths eyes initiative tell us what you did, who was involved and send us some pictures that you took and/or posters that you developed.  This year there will be a prizes for the best maths eyes family/group projects.

You are encouraged to use technology to enhance your poster to make your maths more visible

What you have to say about your maths eyes family/community initiative  to enter?

  • You will need to describe your maths eyes initiative/project (This could e.g., be organizing your own local maths eyes competition, developing/doing a maths trail, or any other initiative where you hoped to develop maths eyes)
  • You have to describe who was involved
  • You have to tell us how the project went and what your favourite part was
  • Upload a sample of photographs you took during the project and/or some examples of what you developed = the maths trail, Maths Eyes posters

Guideline on saving any Photographs, Maths Eyes Posters files you are submitting

You should use a camera that will produce a photograph in as high a resolution as possible (when saved the original photograph should be more than 2MB in size).

  • Save a copy of the photograph in its original format before any editing takes place. (This is important as if your entry is shortlisted you will be asked to forward a copy of the original photograph).
  • The photographs you enter can capture the planning and running of your projects and or/ some of the Maths Eyes posters or a maths trail that you might have developed.

NB: It is very important that you adhere to the guidelines on saving photographs and edited poster files for both competitions before you enter.

Important Dates

  • The competition is open to everyone.
  • The maximum number of entries per individual is 3.
  • Closing date for all entries is Friday 30th  November 2018.
  • The shortlist entries will be announced on Thursday 21st  February 2019 at 5pm (The list of shortlisted entries will be available on Maths Week Ireland & HaveYouGotMathsEyes).
  • All those that are shortlisted will be invited to a celebration where all entries will be exhibited and the winners in each category will be announced.
  • A selection of shortlisted entries will be part of a Maths Eyes exhibition which will tour venues on the Island of Ireland during 2019.
